| The heavy showers that had been forecast were clearing nicely as we headed up the A38 and it looked like being warm but overcast - ideal running weather. Dennis said had I remembered my pound for the bridge!! Good point, mustn't forget to turn off for Saltash - at this stage I'm usually on auto-pilot. For those who have run in Saltash before I won't whinge on about how hilly it is, though it can't be that bad, otherwise we wouldn't be returning for yet another quad-busting session. Seriously, though, this is a testing and varied course (and I love it!) even the little uphill bit they throw in at 12 miles before you're finally allowed the luxury of a downhill finish through the main street. Another great thing about this race is the fantastic support you get all the way round.
Janet thoroughly enjoyed her run, finishing in 1:43:12. Dennis had a good race - a toughie, he said - but he was looking pretty cool at the finish in a time of 1:53:20 which was a course PB for him, knocking nearly 3 minutes off last year's time! And (former) Carnie Dave was there - still on recovery from the Tresco Marathon, he came home in just over 2 hours; good to see you Dave, you'll soon be back to your best! Janet won FV45 and Dennis came second in his age category but there was only one prize so he didn't get to shake hands with the Mayor .........
