| The GP races are coming thick and fast now. And they don't come thicker and faster than the Turkey Trot. The lane leading down the first mile was swollen with runners as the large field tore down it. The main aim was to get back to the finish before the heavens opened again!!
Twenty-three Carnies had braved the monsoon weather and were rewarded with no rainfall within the window in which the race took place. Obviously, the man upstairs had emptied his bladder and was refilling whist the race was on!
Buoyed by their return to the team podium at Launceston, the Carn girls were out in force. Great to see Paula and Kensa back racing and in fine form. With Paula (3rd), Juliet (4th) and Kensa (5th) producing high finishes in the ladies race and Janet providing excellent support as the fourth counter for the team, the girls were on for another place amongst the medals.
One by one the Carnies came over the finish line recording excellent times. Carole Drew must have been one of the happiest runners on the night. She'd cracked the 10 minute mile barrier in a race for the first time ever. She was ecstatic and rightly so. A magnificent effort. She shoved her Garmin at husband Barry. "What was my average?" she gasped. "9:47" was the reply. She was made up. Well Done, Carole. Those 10 minute miles are history.
Cheers to all those who came to support all around the course. Good to see you out there.
Next GP race, the Mag 7 in 10 days time!!
