Reduth 2nd XI v Hayle 2nd XI
Redruth C.C 2nd XI
Reds entertain Hayle 2nd XI at Trewirgie. Report from Rob Norwell.

Saturday 9th June 2007

Hayle 2nds 152 all out lost to Reds 2nds 155-3. Reds (20 points) Beat Hayle (4 points) by 7 wickets.

Hayle won the toss on a warm and sunny day at Trewirgie and chose to bat. N Trestrail (54) and P Miners (26) saw Hayle to 79 without loss after 24 overs. Reds then began to fight back and despite a mature and hard fought 21 from CSCA rep G Wiseman wickets fell steadily. Rob Norwell took 5-28 but the star of the show was Peter Thomas with 4-11 including a hat-trick in the 48th over. Hayle were all out for 152 with one ball of their innings to spare.

The reply from Redruth started in the worst possible way as Nick Mallaber was forced to retire hurt without scoring.  Darren Clift and Peter Thomas put on 37 before both were out in the high teens before Paul Harris (49) and Aaron Penberthy (43 not out) put on 84 for the third wicket. James Hitchens joined Aaron at the crease and contributed 19 not out to a fine 7 wicket win. Reds 2nds remain top of Div 3 west and look forward to visiting Penzance on Saturday 16th June.
