Former CAC hurdler Steven Green struck gold last weekend in the Norwich Union European Indoor Championships in Birmingham. Steven anchored the Great Britain quartet that crossed the line second in 3:07.04 but they were upgraded to gold after Germany were disqualified for fouling the Russian runner on the final bend of the last leg.
“It’s great to hear that we’ve been moved up to gold. The guys were brilliant,” said Steven, who collected gold on his senior debut in a GB vest “I knew I had to make sure I did nothing wrong and keep out of trouble and I managed to do that.”
The former Helston schoolboy and Cambridge University graduate also took part in the individual 400 metres, finishing third in his heat in 47.08 seconds, which qualified him for the semi final, where he finished fifth (47.47), missing out on a place in the final by forty six hundreths of a second.
Steven's younger brother David has also been showing good form this winter, clocking 51.02 in his heat at the recent National Indoor Championships in Birmingham. This time was just outside his personal best.
