It was great to see Kevin O'Connor and Adam Thomas at the club last Tuesday joining the Middle Distance group for the evening's training session.
Kevin, who moved to Vancouver twelve years ago, had a special reason for this visit to Engalnd as he has just become a very young grandad. Congratulations Kevin, you don't look a day over forty!! Kevin, who still works as private investigator in Vancouver, embarked on a second successful running career in Canada, running for Peninsula Runners. Highlights have included sixth place (30 minutes 06 seconds) in the Sun Run 10K, which attracts over 36000 runners and an impressive 65 minutes 42 seconds time in the Vancouver Half Marathon.

Kevin quietly contemplates this evening's 10x400 metre session
Last December he won the bronze medal in the Canadian Masters Cross Country Championships, competing in the over 35 age group. What next? Well later this year Kevin will be lining up in the New York Marathon, where he will be competing in the 40-44 category and has set himself a target time of 2 hours 29 minutes. Let us know how you get on Kevin and good luck.

Adam, who is now based in Norwich, came down to visit his family in St Ives and also decided he needed a hard training session at the club (as you do), as he seeks to maintain his rich vein of recent form. Adam ran 14 minutes 49.92 in the recent South of England 5000 metres Championships at Crystal Palace and has also set another personal best over 3000 metres, clocking 8 minutes 26.41 in the St Mary's Relays. This time would have slipped him into 10th position in the Cornwall Senior Men's All Time List, if eligibility had permitted.

Adam, now injury free and running better than ever
