Roadworks on Brooks Turkey Trot Course
Take care for a 0.75 mile stretch along Broad Lane

ROADWORKS ON THE BROOKS MID SUMMER TURKEY TROT COURSE

South West Water have just begun a series of roadworks on the Turkey Trot course.  The section affected is from the mini roundabouts at Paynters Lane End (1.5 miles), where the route turns left along Broad Lane.  Runners need to be aware that the roadworks extend for 0.75 mile to a point just beyond the 2 mile drink station at 2.25 miles.

1.    There are a series of approximately ten locations where the left hand side of the road has been dug up.  At some of these places there is a pavement to the left of these works, which is obviously the safer option for runners.  Unfortunately in some places there is no pavement and runners will have to pass the roadworks on the righthand side and should therefore be aware of oncoming traffic.  We will endeavour to have some of these points marshalled.

2.   At the end of these roadworks, there are now temporary traffic lights (2.25 miles), which again will require runners to keep to the pavement on the left hand side.  Hopefully this will not cause too much of a problem for the lead vehicle.  I would not recommend trying to follow the race by car as progress along Broad Lane will be unbelieveably slow.  Probably slower than many of the runners!

3.   Also today roadworks have started on the main road by Camborne Redruth Community Hospital, just before Barncoose roundabout.  By day the road works are controlled by traffic lights but it seems these lights are not used after work.
